Man With A Plan
Vermont's Favorite Film!

This is the story of 72-year-old farmer Fred Tuttle. Tuttle is a partial invalid, can no longer pay his taxes and medical bills and is in danger of losing his farm. What's a struggling farmer to do?

Fred's father, age 96, has a wonderful idea: Fred should go into politics. After all, what other career pays well, doesn't require a diploma, and is open to the elderly? So begins the political career of Fred Tuttle. With a campaign budget of only $16, Tuttle begins his bid with hilarious consequences. Can this political newcomer defeat the State's incumbent Senator?

Don't let the idyllic Vermont countryside fool you, though - the film looks more innocent than it is. Under this layer of gentle parody lies an issue-driven film that defends the interests of forgotten citizens like Tuttle. There are plenty of people in his hopeless position in today's America and the film leaves no doubt about that, despite its charming tone.

And, yes, the DVD features coverage of the actual 1998 congressional race in which the real Fred Tuttle gave a good, old-fashioned Vermont whooping to Massachusetts carpet-bagger Jack McMullen. It also includes the Starline Rhythm Boys’ “In Memory of Fred” a tribute to Fred which is the musical backdrop to a photo montage of Fred’s Life.
